CHARTER:
Southern Cross Training Centre is a community within the Entropia Universe, consisting of like-minded individuals spanning the boundaries of race, creed, politics and geography. We are proud supporters of the Entropian concept and do our part to contribute to its furtherance, through the nurturing of newer players and the positive representation both in the actual and virtual worlds.

We aspire to be a highly skilled society and through our core tenants of Respect, Integrity and Joy, we seek to evolve as a society; providing our members with a hierarchy that fosters individual growth, friendship, loyalty, voluntary contributions, well-being and most importantly - fun.

RULES:
The following rules are fairly obvious but we take them seriously. If you are capable of getting along with others, have some common sense, and are an upstanding person, you shouldn't have any problems.

Description: Solid, enforced, no-no's for our society, in no particular order.
(Enforcement of rules must require either (1) witness from a rank 5 or above or (2) screen shot as evidence)

Greater Offenses: Instant grounds for instant dismissal. No re-admittance.
- Begging, Lying, Cheating, Scamming, Spamming, Stealing.

- Negative conduct that damages the reputation of the Southern Cross Training Centre.

- Posting of internal society information onto a public forum.

- Harsh criticism, attack, berating or harassment of another society member, or any Entropian citizen for that matter.

- Creation or perpetuation of rumours.

- Second account avatars will have both accounts banned from SCTC.

Lesser No-No's: Do these and either get dismissed immediately or face a warning. Two of these offences is an automatic dismissal, which may or may not include a permanent ban from the society.
- Failure to take arguments or disputes from the society chat to private chat.

- Generally disruptive or malcontentious behaviour.

- Failure to collect all teleports within one month of admittance to society.

- Failure to register on the society website within one week of admittance to society.

- Inactivity of greater than three months with no communication. Inactivity is defined as having not been seen or heard by a First Circle or above.

- Disrespect towards your society, its members or failure to heed direction from higher ranking members.

- Excessive or repeated use of foul or inappropriate language in the society chat.

- Flaming of individuals on the society website.

PROMOTION: Details can be found by following this link - promotion-requirements-and-hierarchy-t243.html - (Promotion Requirements and Hierarchy thread).

ETIQUETTE: Common and acceptable practices and behaviours, both within our society as well as the greater Entropian Universe. These are not hard rules, but serve as guidance to a positive reputation and acceptance among your fellow society members. Proper etiquette will allow you to represent both yourself and your society positively, wherever you are seen.

Society Etiquette:
- Be honest. Pay back any PED owed, return anything borrowed, and do not borrow what you can't replace.

- Have a positive attitude. This does not mean that you have to be happy all the time, rather it means don't whine or complain if your not.

- Do not lurk. You don't have to start a conversation, but say hello, goodbye or congratulations to your fellow society members.

- Know your society's higher ranking members. It will look foolish if you are one-upping someone who has been playing for years and is here for the purpose of helping you. Higher ranking members have earned their ranking through years of game play, accumulated experience, cycling tons of PED and helping many new players before you. Respect them as they already respect you.

- Recognize the difference between skills and experience. One does not mean the other. This is a common mistake. Chipping in skills is a part of the game, but experience comes with time, game play, failures and interaction.

- Familiarize yourself with your other society members. It's really poor form to outbid a soc member at auction or jump into soc chat not knowing who your own society members are.

- DO NOT SHOUT! Regardless of how you are in real life, it's only done here on rare occasion and anything more is considered rude, annoying and disrespectful. If you ATH, then by all means, have at it. :)

- With rank comes responsibility as well as privilege. Ranking is not solely a measure of personal growth, but it is also a responsibility towards those below you as well as your society. As you rank, check the soc terminal logs, assist lower ranks in getting their tp's, organize hunting parties and represent your society proudly.

- Conduct yourself in a manner that earns respect. It will influence your societal acceptance and your reputation. Positive behaviour carries a reputation far and wide. Negative behaviour carries much, much farther.

- Do not use offensive language in soc chat. This extends to use of curse words, derogatory, inflammatory or dirty jokes or mannerisms. Regardless of who may or may not be offended, we as a society want to live, play and act at a higher standard. Conduct yourself in a manner that earns respect. Use of foul language in team or private chat is acceptable provided no recipient objects and it is not excessive or too much for the recipient(s).

- We do not have an age rule, as there really is no way to know who is what age. We are a mature society, meaning you don't need to be any particular age, but please try to act maturely.

- Remain in contact; if you can not log on, then post or message through the society website. If we never hear from you, we won't know who you are, you won't be a part of our community and you will be considered inactive, which is grounds for dismissal.

- Don't ever loan something unless you are prepared to never get it back.

- If you ever suspect a scam or a violation of the rules, either 1) Take a screenshot and contact a Rank 5 or 6 immediately and/or 2) Report it to MA support if you think it is a serious offence.

- Our society, its rules and code of conduct is not for everybody. If you feel you do not fit, talk to a rank 5 or 6 member about it rather than get frustrated. They have played for years and may know other societies that may suit you and your interests better.

- Real life always comes first. Always.

Team Etiquette:
- Learn how to team hunt from experienced players. It is different than solo hunting. It does not consist of swarming like wasps and agro-ing everything in an area onto your team. A larger game is involved which involves more strategy and teamwork.

- Ask if you want to mine while on a tp or hunting run. Mining while on a run slows the whole party down. If it is ok with the group, announce when you get a hit, and understand that if they don't want to wait, it is your responsibility to catch up with them, or leave the team.

- Do not run into someone else's path of fire and be mindful of crossfire. This is good to practice regardless of PvP status. Using auto-tool for discharging a weapon and not watching for cross fire is a particularly volatile combination. Getting fragged by your own teammate sucks.

- Use SCTC in your team name, and be creative with it. If you are proud to be a part of your society, then represent it on the global ticker. "SCTC- The Fresqmakers" is still one of my favourites. This is not a rule, as it wouldn't make sense on an inter-society or personal hunt.

- If you hunt with a team, stay with the team and never leave a man behind. If you DC (disconnect), reconnect quickly as your team should be waiting on you. Similarly, if you have to walk away from your terminal, just type "afk" so everybody knows.

- The standard team loot mode is "Damage: Stack Share"

Global/HoF Etiquette:
- Globals and HoF's are both a blessing and a common topic of controversy, as they involve the almighty PED. There are two common global splitting methods; which one that is used usually depends on the gap of experience/skills/equipment of the players in the team. It is always wise to know what system is being used, particularly if you have a teammate who has not hunted with you before. Lack of understanding and agreement on distribution system will undoubtedly result in negative consequences.

Method 1- Used for similarly skilled/equipped players - Loot share is based on damage dealt. Looted items (e.g. rifle) over 50 PED are evenly split amongst the active participants on the kill. If a team member wants the looted item, they buy out the rest of the team. All other goods, such as oils, are automatically calculated and distributed by nature of the "Damage: Stack Share" mode.

Method 2 - Used for dissimilarly skilled/equipped players - Loot share is based on damage dealt. Globals (loots over 50 PED) consisting of items and oils, are collected by a designated individual and equally split among the participants. Ignore ammo, refiners, body fat etc.

- Neither method is foolproof and are certainly not the only methods. Both are described as they are the most common and are meant as guidelines.

- Regardless of method used, it is bad form to expect a piece of the global if you did not deal any damage to the mob. A good example of this is the famous "TT global". If a team decides to share, that is up to those that earned it.

- In any case, it is game and a global is fun to get. Do Not Bicker over what you did or did not receive. That is a sure way to take the fun out of it and dissuade others from wanting to hunt with you again. It's not worth losing reputation or a friend over 10 PED.

- You are free to devise and use any loot sharing rules you like but the person who set the team must ensure that all players agree to the proposed rules before joining the team.

- Above all, be honest. If you owe someone PED, or borrow ammo or ME, remember it and pay them back as soon as possible unless they tell you it is a gift. Do not leave this to interpretation.

Rules are subject to regular review and may be changed or edited at the discretion of the First Circle or Master at any time. Any changes will be notified to members via the soc website.
