Full Circle & Way Forward

Full Circle & Way Forward

Postby EbonyKnight » Sat Jan 07, 2012 6:18 am

Leadership has once again fallen on my shoulders, and hopefully I can bring SCTC to a prosperous future.

Taking stock of the current membership show that the current rank promotion requirements need to be changed. Member activity in-game and on soc forums need to be a lot higher if we are to survive.

Rank requirements are going to take time to resolve and I need help for members to moderate any ideas that will imbalance the enjoyability of being in SCTC. I will give an overview on the type of changes I would like done to the Rank requirements, specifics will come later. Quotas for Initiate rank and 1st Circle based on society size so we don't get too top heavy with new recruits and maintain a minimum required at 1st Circle level.

I am also looking for helpers with the soc forum, either as Administrators or Moderators. I have noticed that the forum topics could be better organised in some areas.

Also will be looking at reducing the behind the scenes administration that has been going on in running SCTC. Member dismissals and demotions from rank requirement changes will occur at the end of February, May, August and November. Rank promotion requirements will reviewed one week before these changes and announced so members have time to meet any changes for the next 3 month period.

I will be developing the Rank Requirements based primarily on Achievements and Missions. Whether they be completed fully, acquired or in terms of Iron Challenges completed but rewards not collected. The specifics of the rank requirements will also be determined by the size of the SCTC. Other factors that may get included later will be member activity based on participating with scheduled events, attribute totals and equipment.

To give an example of what I mean.

SCTC up to 25 members.
Initiate Rank requirement - Having Stamina 2 (or 10 for pre-vu8.0 avatars) and registering on soc forum within 2 weeks of joining society.
4th Circle - Acquiring all non-hidden Calypso Exploring Achievements and Eudoria hangar tp's, Initiate Rank requirements
3rd Circle - Acquiring all Amethera tp's, 4th Circle Rank requirements

SCTC up to 50 members.
Initiate Rank requirement - Acquiring all non-hidden Calypso Exploring Achievements, Eudoria hangar tp's and as above.
4th Circle - Acquiring all Amethera tp's, Initiate Rank requirements.

The Non-hidden Calypso Exploring Achievements are basically all the non-hangar Eudoria tp's and visiting Hadesheim Crater. This requirement will weed out any new players that would normally quit after a few days or a week of play.

It's also important that we moderate the in-take of new players so we don't get overwhelmed. Former society members are welcome and not part of this in-take quota. But is expected of them to reach 4th Circle in a timely fashion.

So the question I put to my fellow soc members, what achievements and missions would be fair to include for each rank? The society is currently on 36 members for the up to 50 members requirements. What size does the society need to be for the next lot of changes and subsequent changes?

Looking forward to your replies.

Looks good to me, EK.

- Would put some iron missions in to get 4th circle, like 100 daikiba (shinkiba), 100 merp!
- And graduate as disciple of socm8!

This means they will have to play often, maybe put a timelimit on it 2 to get from initiate to 4th circle!
Have to find out how long it takes to get graduated when playing ragular.

Greatings and GL to all (:

Searching through the archive section I have found the old ranking systems that were used. I propose that these form the "bones" of the new rank requirements with adjustments.

At a guess i think v8.4 was when I started SCTC.

I was very mindful of how the rankings and promotions would be when I decided on starting up SCTC. Promotions/demotions wouldn't be done on whim.

The Ranking names - which model to use, there was only one that seem to fit the idea of a training society and that was the Circles ranking system. I wanted each ranking promotion to give members a goal to aim towards and fit in with the idea of helping new players.

Initiates
- Lowest rank and entry point.

4th Circle
- Gaining all TP's from both maps. This achieves 2 things, shows members are dedicated to give EU a go and should there be any hunts near any tp, anyone would be able to join in.

3rd Circle
- Graduating from mentor (those without a mentor, equivalent skill level). A goal for disciples to aim towards.

2nd Circle
- disciple that had graduated. (This later showed to be nearly impossible with the drop in sweat prices and retainment of new players) and was replaced with the following.
- member is to have 3 disciples (don't have to be active), Attributes adding to 125+, not counting health. As skills can be chipped in, basing it on Attributes gives a fairer goal.

1st Circle
- I had no real idea of what qualified for this rank, only that I knew Grymn and Adverse were to be in it.
- When 2nd Circle requirements changed, it was easier to set a goal for this rank; 150+ attribute points and a disciple that had graduated.

Master
- Even though I had started this society I wanted a set requirement should something happen and I had to step down from this position. And something to secure my position as Master.
- Mentor profession to be unlocked and voted in. (After 9 disciples graduated, I'm still only on 5 mentor skills, and I'm guessing the mentor profession will be unlocked at mentor skill level 10.)

The following changes were from v10.4

Rank information and how to progress up the Society Ranks Circle:

TO BE PROMOTED YOU MUST BE REGISTERED ON THE SOC WEBSITE

Initiate: When you first join SCTC as a new member you will start in the bottom rung or Initiate Circle. If you are a member of longer standing coming in from Freelancer status or a transfer from another society your skills and previous accomplishments will determine your position in the SCTC Circle Ranks.

Fourth Circle: To Graduate from Initiate to Fourth Circle you must acquire all Eudoria TPs. As of VU10.8, there are 44 Eudoria TPs.

As additional TPs are introduced, those in Circles Four and above will have 30 days to acquire them. Failure to acquire new TPs as introduced in future V.U.s will result in a demotion to the next lower Circle until they are acquired.

Third Circle: To Graduate up to Third Circle from Fourth requires you to meet the above requirements but to also acquire all Amethera TPs (currently 34 in VU10.8) and to have acquired enough skill points in your chosen profession that would equal graduation.

Example: You would graduate by acquiring 2000 Skill Points in Rifle or 600 Surveying etc.

The full list of graduating skill points is:
Colouring (1900), Concentration (1900), Engineering (1900), First Aid (1900), Handgun (1900), Longblades (1900), Make Clothes (1900), Powerfist (1900), Prospecting (600), Rifle (2000), Shortblades (1900), Surveying (600).

Second Circle: As for 3rd Circle together with 130 attribute points (excluding Health). When Mentoring is re-introduced this requirement will be looked at again.

First Circle: As for 2nd Circle but with 160 attribute points (excluding Health). When Mentoring is re-introduced this requirement will be looked at again.

Master: Voted in from 1st Circle.

(Allowances may be made for Circle requirements for those with exceptional assets, to be determined on a case by case basis by the Society Master)

Take a look at how the ranking requirements changed due to how EU changed. This is something that was overlooked in the last 6-12 months.

hmm here are some of my suggestions, most have prob already been suggested. shamelessly copy and pasted

Initiate rank - Register on soc forum within 2 weeks of joining, Certified Hunter (add kill 50 of each puny also?) + Certified Miner, *failure to aquire 4th circle after 30-90days will be booted

4th Circle - all non-hidden Calypso Exploring Achievements and Eudoria hangar tp's, kill 100 shinikba iron challenge + initiate reqs

3rd Circle - Acquiring all Amethera tp's, aquire certain amount of skills (as listed in above post), kill 100 argo iron challenge + 4th circle reqs

2nd Circle - Graduate from Disciple, have certian amount of attribute points 110+?, (kill 1000 of something iron challenge or 100 troxies etc... ) + 3rd Circle reqs

1st Circle - be mentor for at least 1? graduated Disciple preferably soc member, *cant think of much to put here somthing difficult.

theres a few reasons why i have listed it as it is, one would be if the person prefers mining to hunting doesnt make it ridicoulsy hard but in saying that you should be able to kill some things considering soc hunts.
another would obviously be playtime some people can play loads while others a lot less depending on work and such.
although i dont have any knowledge on the backend managing this, as it could be easy as to do or diffucult as hell, we would obviously aim for a setup that is minimal as possible on the backend so leaders aint sitting there for hours and hours managing whos where.

anyway thats my 2 pec on it so far

cheers
