Entropianeurs In Game Buisiness Proposal

Postby Danger » Wed Aug 03, 2011 5:21 pm

Hello guys, I have been thinking about a possible business in game. I have never seen anyone do what I am thinking, and I don't know if that is because they haven't thought of it or weather its just a stupid idea but here I go.........

It starts with a simple message in the main towns/outposts....

Ever been hunting/mining and don't want to or can't get to the TT to resupply/sell? Call Danger! I will deliver what ever you need right to your feet for a % ( still haven't figured out what % to charge) Add me to FL, you never know when you might need me :) ( Need to refine the message to have a good impact and fit on the chat screen)

So that's the basic outline of my thoughts, a portable TT to buy / sell. I know I have needed to resupply, but not wanting to leave my spot to get what I need and that is where this stemmed from. Now it's still fresh in my head so I haven't really done much working out yet.

Now all I need is some feedback from more experienced EU players, what % would you pay to get what you needed delivered to you? Would you even pay extra for what you need to be delivered? What are the pitfalls in this idea?

Any and all comments welcome and who knows if this turns out to be a profitable business maybe the whole Soc could benefit from it. With multiple deliveries at the same time profits can only increase, plus there will constantly be a customer base because well.. ammo runs out. I'm thinking it has to be worth it and will yield guaranteed profits. You are not gonna get shot down like the space taxis so decay will be non existent unless you crash XD, and the only thing you will have to spend on is fuel, which if you have all TP's it is not gonna be much at all.

I believe the key to making this work is advertising, the bigger the customer base, the faster the profits roll in. Now I'm gonna stop here and listen to what you folks think.

If you are reading this please leave a comment, no matter how insignificant you may think your feedback is, it is all valued the same in my eyes.

Thanks :sorcerer:

Just talked with Pepe in game and sort of refined this idea a little bit more.

If I had a minimum order of 100 ped then I could aim the business at the Ubers and other regular depositors.
If I charge a 5% mark up on that, it would be 5 ped profit in a matter of minutes and with a big enough customer base I could see it being a viable business, as I presume they would not like to break up a hunt by refilling ammo/mines. So when they are getting low the message me and I refill them for 5% and I believe they would vale that 5% for time saved and ease of refilling.

However, by targeting the higher ups I am cutting away at least 70% of the total possible customers, so this could be a double edged sword.

However I could also buy from them at TT prices and trade items for ammo etc etc.

Nice idea Danger, this could be a profittable hole in this game. But is it gonna work, i don't know!
I wouldn't want to pay extra to get supplies, but that's because i am a player without putting real money in game.
Altho it's nothing for me, i still think it's worth trying it.

Hard to say, probably find that any Ubers that need restocking also need to off-load as well. So they get to do both resupply, store and sell the loot collected so far.

Catering for Ubers will mean buying loot they have collected. And they want it now, which will mean having a high end tp chip. They won't want to wait for you to fly to get to them.

Nice idea, but just letting you know the pitfalls. Unfortunately can't think of any solutions to the pitfalls stated.

yeah, that certainly is a pitfall. although the ubers are just a possible customer base, if they want it now then I guess it is pretty impractical for them, but my hopes are that they would call me before they run out. then that would give me time to get to them before they run out, I also believe my response time would be pretty fast as you can get choppers to hit about 105kph. So far I am thinking that it cant hurt to give it a shot as it would be pretty hard to screw up a simple biz like this, all that is needed is a good advertising campaign, spamming in towns and outposts.

How about doing a survey and asking the "ubers". How far away from a tp do they go to hunt, size of tp chip used etc. Would they be interested in a service like that.

The only time I would use a "gopher" is when during an event, every minute logged is a minute that I need to maintain a killcount. For example, during Merry Mayhem, you must maintain a high kill to log time ratio in order to compete. Time spent at the TT is time not killing.

But otherwise, during normal hunting, time is not so much a factor and it's not only easy to pause, jump back to an OP for ammo, but it's usually a welcome break.

So, if you were to pursue this idea, my advice would hit up events that are more than a TP1 jump away from the nearest TT, and offer it to participants to the event for TT pricing only, and mention that tips are welcome but not necessary. Those who wish to take you up on your service will compensate you for your efforts and may even add you to FL for future events.

Just keep in mind though, that it's not uncommon for ubers at big events stock up on thousands of ped's of ammo at a clip.
The longer you insist on bothering me, the longer you keep me from my coffee
